Who is affected with Hair Loss

women hair loss treatment

Male -pattern baldness is more common than female-pattern baldness, affecting around 50% of all men by 50 years of age.

Female-pattern baldness is more common in women after the menopause (when a woman’s periods stop at around age 52).

Alopecia areata however can occur at any age male or female, although it is more common in people aged 15-29. It affects one or two people in every 1,000 in the UK.

Scarring alopecia affects both male and females also, but it’s a lot less common in children than adults. It accounts for around 7% of hair loss cases in the UK.
